How Overwatch teams recruit

Overwatch teams recruit one slot at a time. The game is played 5v5 with a fixed role lock, so every offer on this page targets a tank, a damage or a support player, often with a list of heroes the team needs.

The roster

  • Tank: one per team, creates space and leads the fight.
  • Damage (DPS): two per team, a hitscan and a flex or projectile player on most rosters.
  • Support: two per team, usually a main support who keeps the team alive and a flex support who adds damage and utility.
  • Shot caller: the player who calls engagements and ultimates. It is often the tank or a support, and it is a skill teams ask about.

The ranks teams look for

Competitive ranks go Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster and Champion, with a separate rank per role. Put your rank in the role you apply for: a Grandmaster support who is Diamond on tank will be judged on support.

Where Overwatch teams play

Amateur teams scrim several evenings a week and enter community leagues and open tournaments; the most ambitious ones follow the qualifiers of the official competitive circuit. Check the schedule in the offer before applying: scrim blocks are usually fixed.

Getting recruited faster

Complete your gaming CV with your role, your rank in that role, your hero pool, your languages and your availability. Apply to the offers that match your slot, and keep a VOD or a replay code ready for tryouts. Team captains can also browse the Overwatch players looking for a team.

FAQ

Is there an Overwatch team finder?

Yes. This page lists the Overwatch teams recruiting on Seek Team right now. Filter by rank, role, platform and region, then contact a team or apply to its recruitment offer.

Which role do Overwatch teams recruit?

Always a specific one. A roster is one tank, two damage and two support players, so offers say which slot is open, and often which heroes the team wants in that slot.

What rank do Overwatch teams ask for?

Casual and community teams often take Gold to Diamond players. Rosters aiming at amateur leagues usually want Master, Grandmaster or Champion in the role they recruit for.

Is Overwatch LFG the same as finding a team?

Not quite. LFG groups are for queuing together tonight; a team trains, scrims and plays tournaments on a fixed schedule. This page lists teams with a recruitment process.

How do Overwatch tryouts work?

Usually a few scrims with the roster in your role, sometimes a VOD review. Teams watch your hero pool, your positioning and how you communicate cooldowns and calls.
